16 sqm is a site-specific work in which 16 sqm of the seabed from the Seto Inland Sea is transferred to an abandoned house on Momoshima Island in Japan. Eight tatami mats are replaced by a 16 sqm pool filled with sand, seawater, and umi-hotaru (sea fireflies). These 1 to 3 mm-long crustaceans produce blue-coloured light.
