Composition for disklavier and speakers, based on
recordings of the bioluminescent skin of the Watasenia scintillans squid (Hotaru-Ika). In the abstraction of closeness, biological machinery begin to reveal mysterious shapes and motions beyond the reach of our naked eyes: The skin of the bioluminescent Hotaru-Ika squid glows and pulsates like an alien landscape to the warped sound of synthesizers and a self-playing piano.
