Das Numen Meatus

World Wide Wind Data Translated into Sound

Organ pipes, wind machine, program downloading wind data of various locations around the world

By transferring global wind data into the exhibition space and through the organ pipes, the installation converts natural phenomena into sound. In a spiral shape the surface of the world is scanned from South Pole to North Pole, regularly in steps of 10 degrees distance in longitude and latitude as if it were a record disc. The visitor can distinguish the strength of the local wind by the intensity of sound around them.
